“The controversial Bahrain Formula 1 Grand Prix has taken place despite continuing anti-government protests.
The race track has been heavily guarded by police, dogs and armoured vehicles to keep activists away.”
The F1 race that shouldn’t have happened. The action of still going ahead with this race seemingly, to me, condones the action of the authorities in their suppression of demonstrations against the leadership.
Unfortunately, being a rich mans sport, it is clear that money talks loudly and the message this sends out is that effectively F1 can be brought at any price. This in turn masking the background actions of a regime under challenge. These are the times that sport can take responsibility for making a stand against unacceptable behaviour. To watch the powers that be hob knobbing with the teams, drivers and higher echelons of formula 1 does not help in empowering people to choose their own destinies.

Glad to see that our elected MP’s are so busy sorting out the mess that our country is in that they have time to concern themselves with such a trifling matter in the grand scheme of things. For goodness sake how can this picture honestly be classed as offensive. If so, then how do any of these people manage to go on holiday anywhere were women might be wearing a bikini for example!
